Who we are
Cessnock Plaza Pharmacy (“we”, “us”) operates this website at https://cessnockpharmacies.com.au and the pharmacy located at Cessnock Plaza (Woolworths Centre), 1 Keene St, Cessnock NSW 2325. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and by professional obligations applying to community pharmacies in New South Wales.
What information we collect
- Contact details you give us through our contact and prescription forms (name, phone, email, date of birth where relevant).
- Health information contained in prescriptions, eScripts and any notes you share with us so we can dispense medicines safely.
- Service records created when you use any of our services (vaccinations, Webster-paks, NDIS, sleep apnoea, etc.).
- Technical information when you visit this website (anonymous request logs and standard server logs). We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To dispense your medicines and provide the pharmacy services you have asked for.
- To contact you about your script or service (for example, when something is ready for pickup).
- To meet our legal obligations under the Pharmacy Practice Act, PBS rules and NSW health regulations.
- To improve our service and respond to your enquiries.
Who we share it with
We share your information only where it is necessary to provide care or required by law. This may include:
- Our dispensary team and pharmacists.
- Your GP or other treating health professionals, with your consent.
- Medicare, the PBS, the National Prescription Delivery Service and MedAdvisor where you have chosen to use those services.
- Government regulators where required by law.
We do not sell your information to third parties.
How we protect it
Paper scripts and dispensing records are stored securely in the dispensary. Digital records are stored in secure pharmacy systems with restricted staff access. Files uploaded through our prescription form are sent directly to our dispensary team and are not retained on the public website.
How long we keep it
We retain dispensing records for the period required by law (currently a minimum of two years for adults and seven years for children in NSW). Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry.
Your rights
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you. To do so, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Concerns or complaints
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
